THE BEST FREE VPN SERVICE FOR ACCESS TO USA, JAPAN AND SOUTH KOREA VIDEO AND AUDIO STREAMING SERVICES (NETFLIX, HULU, AMAZON PRIME VIDEO AND MORE SUPPORTED)
HomeBrewVPN: Free Demonstration of TRIMIUM VPN Technology
HomeBrewVPN is a completely free, demonstration-based VPN service built on TRIMIUM VPN Technology—the same advanced platform that powers several commercial VPN services. It is designed to help users bypass geographic restrictions and access region-locked audio and video streaming platforms.
With HomeBrewVPN, users can access major streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and others, even when traveling or residing outside supported regions like the United States, Japan, or South Korea—provided they have valid subscriptions to those services.
Freemium vs. Paid Access
-
Free Tier (Freemium): Enables streaming from select regions (USA, Japan, South Korea) at reduced speeds.
-
Paid Tier: Offers full-speed access to additional regions including USA, Canada, UK, Japan, France, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Thailand, and Mexico.
Supported Protocols & Devices
HomeBrewVPN supports multiple VPN protocols, including PPTP, L2TP, SSTP, and OpenVPN, ensuring wide compatibility across devices and networks. You can configure HomeBrewVPN on:
-
Mobile Devices: Android, iPhone, iPad
-
Desktop Systems: Microsoft Windows PCs and tablets
-
Routers: Particularly those with built-in VPN clients, such as ASUS RT-N66U or newer models
Additionally, HomeBrewVPN supports custom firmware routers like DD-WRT, Tomato, pfSense, MikroTik, and others. (Please note: Most routers do not support the SSTP protocol.)
Privacy & Security
At HomeBrewVPN, your privacy is a top priority. We do not monitor your browsing activity, and we do not log or sell your data. There are no browser plug-ins or suspicious software installations required—just a straightforward, secure VPN service that is completely free to use.
So why is the service free? Is your data being collected?
HomeBrewVPN is a free, demonstration version of a commercially available VPN service. The free tier provides dynamically limited connection speeds ranging between 256 kbps and 512 kbps—sufficient for streaming services like Netflix at resolutions between 244p and 480p.
The premium version offers unlimited speeds and supports streaming in HD (720p), Full HD (1080p), and Ultra HD (4K, including Dolby Vision and HDR10), depending on your internet connection and VPN client. It also includes access to additional content channels such as BBC iPlayer, ITV, and others.
HomeBrewVPN was created to meet the needs of users who either cannot afford a paid VPN or don’t use one frequently enough to justify the cost. It also serves those facing government restrictions that prevent access to commercial VPNs, offering a reliable and accessible zero-cost solution.
We believe that if you find value in the free service and wish to enjoy higher-quality streaming and expanded content access, you may choose to upgrade to a paid subscription. Regardless of your plan, HomeBrewVPN does not monitor, store, or report any user data—ensuring your privacy is respected at all times.
If you appreciate the project but prefer not to subscribe, we welcome your support through voluntary donations via PayPal. Your contributions help keep the project alive and growing. Even if you're unable to donate, your feedback is invaluable—it helps us enhance the service based on real user experiences.

L2TP users: Optional shared key (required by iOS devices): 12345678
SSTP users: Download the SSTP certificate file here. Import the certificate into your Windows client by using File Explorer. Locate the downloaded certificate file. Right click on the file and click "Install Certificate". Then click "Open" if prompted. Select "Local Machine" when prompted by the Certificate Import Wizard. Click "Next". Select "Place all certificates in the following store". Click "Browse". Click on "Trusted Root Certification Authorities". Click "OK". Click "Next". Click "Finish". Create a new SSTP VPN client in Windows Settings and use the username and password (see above).
OpenVPN users: Download the OpenVPN configuration file here (latest version 2022-01-26). Import the .ovpn file into your OpenVPN client and configure the username and password (see above). Use password "homebrewvpn" for the client private key (if prompted).
Apple Mac/iMac/OS X/iOS users: Apple has removed support for PPTP therefore L2TP is the best option. In your VPN set up, click on Advanced and place a mark on "Send all traffic over VPN connection". Failure to do so will not allow the VPN to work for you. OpenVPN can be used, but requires a 3rd party download.
