THE BEST FREE VPN SERVICE FOR ACCESS TO USA, JAPAN AND SOUTH KOREA VIDEO AND AUDIO STREAMING SERVICES (NETFLIX, HULU, AMAZON PRIME VIDEO AND MORE SUPPORTED)

About HomeBrewVPN

HomeBrewVPN project is the 100% free demonstration version of TRIMIUM VPN TECHNOLOGY that powers several commercial VPN services which are designed to unblock online audio/video services. HomeBrewVPN helps you access major video and audio streaming web sites that are intended only for USA viewers and other regions such as Japan and South Korea. If you are a subscriber of these services (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and others) and are trying to access content from outside these regions are being blocked, use HomeBrewVPN to get past these blocks and access the content you want.

HomeBrewVPN freemium allows streaming content from these regions at reduced speeds: USA, Japan and South Korea. Paid version allows these regions at full speeds: USA, Canada, UK, Japan, France, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Thailand and Mexico.

HomeBrewVPN VPN service supports PPTP, L2TP, SSTP and OpenVPN protocols. You can configure the VPN on your device (such as an Android device or an iPhone or iPad or Microsoft Windows PCs or tablets) or on your router (such as an ASUS router with built-in VPN client). ASUS RT-N66U and higher model routers are highly recommended because they are easy to set up. Other routers are also supported (DD-WRT, Tomato, pfSense, MikroTik and more). Please note that most routers do not support SSTP.

HomeBrewVPN values your privacy. Your browsing activity is not monitored and no information is kept or sold to anyone. There are no "plug-ins" or "questionable software" to install. HomeBrewVPN is absolutely free to use.

So why is the service free? Is your data being collected?

HomeBrewVPN is the free, demonstration version of a commercially available VPN service. The connection speed on the free version is dynamically limited between 256 kbps and 512 kbps (good enough to stream Netflix at 244p to 480p).

The paid service unlimited speed and up to 4K video and optionally offers additional content channels (such as BBC iPlayer, ITV and more). If you have a good connection and a good VPN client, you should be able to stream videos in HD (720p), Full HD (1080p) and Ultra HD (4K/4K Dolby Vision and HDR10).

Some people are unable to afford a paid VPN service or do not use a VPN enough to justify the cost of a paid service. Others are unable to pay for a VPN because of government restrictions and therefore HomeBrewVPN is a perfect "no cost" solution.

HomeBrewVPN believes that if you are able to use the free service successfully, and would like to stream in high definition video, you will become a paid subscriber and enjoy all the benefits of more content and super fast speeds. HomeBrewVPN does not monitor or store or report your data, whether you use the free or paid version.

Recommended protocols:

Fastest protocols:
OpenVPN: Good choice for long distance connections.
  L2TP
: Another good choice for long distance connections. Works with simple routers.

PPTP: Use only if L2TP is not available or compatible with your device.

Most secure protocols:
OpenVPN: Widely supported across many operating systems/devices.
SSTP: Supported only by Microsoft Windows and few VPN enabled routers.

Best protocols for China, Iran, Oman, Russia, Turkey, U.A.E. and others:
SSTP: Able to bypass most firewall restrictions due to the use of HTTPS.

Instructions:

PPTP users: No encryption or 40-bit encryption or 128-bit encryption is supported.
L2TP users: Optional shared key (required by iOS devices): 12345678
SSTP users: Download the SSTP certificate file here. Import the certificate into your Windows client by using File Explorer. Locate the downloaded certificate file. Right click on the file and click "Install Certificate". Then click "Open" if prompted. Select "Local Machine" when prompted by the Certificate Import Wizard. Click "Next". Select "Place all certificates in the following store". Click "Browse". Click on "Trusted Root Certification Authorities". Click "OK". Click "Next". Click "Finish". Create a new SSTP VPN client in Windows Settings and use the username and password (see above).

OpenVPN users: Download the OpenVPN configuration file here (latest version 2022-01-26). Import the .ovpn file into your OpenVPN client and configure the username and password (see above). Use password "homebrewvpn" for the client private key (if prompted).

Apple Mac/iMac/OS X/iOS users: Apple has removed support for PPTP therefore L2TP is the best option. In your VPN set up, click on Advanced and place a mark on "Send all traffic over VPN connection". Failure to do so will not allow the VPN to work for you. OpenVPN can be used, but requires a 3rd party download.
